The Pantry is open 4 days a week (Monday – Thursday) from 1-3pm. We are not open on the holidays. We do not prepare any food at the Pantry (no meals are provided). We have one mission: Feed the Hungry.
The primary duties that our volunteers do are as follows:
- Answer the phone for client registrations when the clients arrive
- Fill the client order
- Pack boxes for future client orders
- Sort food donations that are dropped off and stock the shelves for packing boxes
Volunteers arrive about 5 minutes before the Pantry opens and they leave within minutes of the Pantry closing. Most volunteers are scheduled only once per month (unless they prefer to work more often than that). There are typically 4-5 volunteers working each day. We schedule out a quarter (3 months) at a time. You can provide input before the schedule comes out if there are any days you cannot work or if there’s a particular day you’d like to work.
We’re very accommodating. If you’re scheduled to work and something comes up, you let us know and we find a sub for you. If volunteering at the Pantry is something you’d like to learn more about, send an email to HopeCenterPantryGB@gmail.com and include your name and phone numbers. We’ll give you a call and schedule a time when you can come and see the Pantry live and in action. There is no obligation if you decide this isn’t for you, we totally understand.
